Total Time 25 minutes
Servings 6 people

  • 1/4 lb. butter (1 stick) soffened
  • 1 tbp. chopped parsley
  • 1 cloves garlic minced
  • fresh ground pepper
  • 1 loaf french bread (baguette)
  • 2 tbsp. grated parmesan cheese
  • 3 oz. grated mozzarella cheese (or Italian blend)
  • 1 slice cooked bacon chopped into bits

The Garlic Butter

  1. In a small mixing bowl combine butter, chopped parsley, garlic, and a sprinkle of fresh ground black pepper.

  2. Blend together until well mixed.

The Bread

  1. Preheat oven to 275°F.  Cut the baguette lengthwise and generously spread each piece with the garlic butter.  Spread the cheeses evenly over the bread.  Top with the bacon bits.

  2. Place the bread in warm oven 4 inches from broiler.  Heat bread for 5 minutes or until cheese begins to melt.  Switch oven to broil and broil until cheeses begin to brown.  Remove from oven, slice at an angle and serve immediately.

Recipe Notes

You may want to experiment with the french bread until you find one that suits you.  Personally I prefer the heavier loaves with more body.

Did you know:  Legend has it that whoever eats the last piece of bread has to kiss the cook.  This kisscookbook thing gets more interesting all the time.
