  • 2-1/2 sticks butter, softened (a little more than 1/2 pound)
  • 1-1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp. vanilla extract
  • 2-1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder unsweetened
  • 1/2 tbsp. baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.  In a large bowl blend together the butter and sugars until creamed.  Blend in the eggs one at a time and then mix in the vanilla until well blended.

  2. In a medium sized bowl whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. Add the flour mixture a little at a time to the butter mixture blending as you go.  Finally, gently mix in the the chocolate chips.

  4. Prepare your baking sheets with parchment paper.  Drop the cookie dough in 1-1/4 tbsp. balls onto the parchment paper approx. 2 inches apart.  If you like you can dot the tops of the cookie balls with 2 or 3 extra chocolate chips to make them show better.  Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes.  Then let cool before serving.

Recipe Notes

Did you know:  The smell of chocolate increases theta brain waves, which triggers relaxation.  I know every time I eat 3 or 4 of these cookies, I need a nap.
