Just add spaghetti and everybody’s happy.
Mozzarella Stuffed Meatballs
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 1 tbsp. grated parmesan cheese
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. fresh ground pepper
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1 large egg
- 3 oz. mozzarella cheese
- 1 tbsp. olive oil extra virgin
- 1 14 oz. jar marinara sauce or your favorite spaghetti sauce
Preheat oven to 325° F. In a medium sized mixing bowl mix / knead the first 8 ingredients together, in other words everything except the marinara and mozzarella, until well blended.
Using your hands, shape the ground beef mixture into 15-16 meatballs. Set aside.
Cut the mozzarella cheese into small cubes.
Press a piece of the mozzarella cheese into each meatball and then seal the meat around the cheese so that it is fully engulfed.
Heat the oil in a large saute pan to medium. Add the stuffed meatballs and lightly saute them until they are nicely browned all over. Place the browned meatballs in a well greased casserole dish.
Pour the marinara sauce evenly over the meatballs, give it a sprinkle of parmesan cheese, cover and bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes.
If you are having spaghetti or some other pasta with you meatballs go ahead and prepare it per package instructions, while the meatballs are baking.
As with most any pasta dishes I like a fresh out of the oven slice of garlic bread. For me pasta is just not complete without it.
Did you know: March 9th is National Meatball Day. Now I ask you, who would not want to celebrate the humble meatball? It should be a national holiday as far as I'm concerned.
