Corn Flakes, they’re not just for breakfast.
Savory Corn Flake Pork Chops
Tasty and crispy straight from the oven. Try them with a side of Buttery Cauliflower and Peas.
- 2 cups corn flakes
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp. poultry seasoning
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp. hot sauce like Franks
- 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 4 boneless loin pork chops 3/4 inch thick
Start by crushing the corn flakes into small crumbs. A freezer bag and a rolling pin works fine for this or you can use a food processor. Add the salt, garlic powder, and poultry seasoning to the bag and shake to mix together.
Preheat oven to 350° F. Pour the corn flake crumb mixture onto a large piece of waxed paper. Pour the flour onto the paper next to the seasoned crumbs. Beat the egg in a small bowl, then add the hot sauce and beat until well mixed.
One at a time dredge each pork chop in the flour, then dip them in the egg mixture and finally coat them with the seasoned corn flake crumbs. Use the back of a fork to lightly press the crumbs into each side of the pork chops.
Bake the pork chops for 30 minutes, turning them over at the half way point. The inner temperature should be 145° F when done.
Did you know: If you’ve ever bought a cereal box with a prize inside, you can thank Will Kellogg. Corn Flakes were the first cereal to contain a prize, called the Funny Jungleland Moving Pictures Booklet. It was included in every box of Corn Flakes produced between 1909 and 1931. Who would have guessed that the prize now is Savory Pork Chops.
