Whiskey and Chicken … Mellow and Tender
Whiskey Chicken Marinade
This is a very good marinade for chicken breasts. I haven't tried it yet but I hear it is excellent for pork and beef as well.
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts about 2 pounds
- 1/2 cup whiskey such as Jim Beam or Jack Daniels
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup olive oil extra virgin
- 2 cloves garlic (minced) or 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp. rosemary
- 1/2 tsp. thyme
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 3/4 tsp. pepper
Combine the whiskey and brown sugar in a medium sized mixing bowl. Then add the rest of the ingredients and whisk until well blended.
Place the chicken breasts in a freezer bag and pour the marinade over the chicken. Seal the bag and swish the marinade over the chicken until well coated. Place the chicken in the refrigerator for a minimum of 4 hours or overnight. Flip the chicken over a few times to make sure it marinades evenly.
Preheat your grill to medium. Grill the chicken breasts approximately 10 minutes per side or until juices run clear and inner temperature reaches 165° F. Serve with a crisp garden salad and enjoy.
Here's a little whiskey trivia for you while you're waiting for your chicken breasts to marinade: 1. Frank Sinatra was buried with a bottle of Jack Daniel's. 2. The Jack Daniel's distillery is located in a dry county, meaning alcohol sales are prohibited there in. An exception has been made for the distillery. I wonder if Frank knew that. 3. Last year World Whiskey Day (third Saturday of May) was celebrated in 47 different countries by more than 25,000 people.
